Sunshine and warm days have taken a toll on the ice. If you put a guess in for ice out before April 25 things are not looking good for you. Will it be a May ice out? Are there fish in the creek? Where are the docks? You have so many questions, and I have so little time. Let me follow up…
The 3 non-floating docks have been removed, along with their bent legs and yearly torment that I (Gord) have endured. Legs seem to be made for a bottom that does not consist of “loon shit”…..excuse the language but really, that’s what it is. Those of you that have taken an unexpected plunge have discovered that fact (Andy Lewis, Dave Kaufman…just to name a few). So what’s the alternative?
Oh, yea baby! New floaters with shore ramps…..waiting for installation! These will be nice! Note the fact that I have two boats in the water! Am I ready for a bit of long line trolling for lake trout? Bring on the open water (assuming I can pry myself away from cabin six reno’s)..
Good bye old docks…but in reality they are destined for repurposing at the swimming point, and other useful spots…
When the creek begins to open up we are fortunate to be able to attract numerous waterfowl to VBL. Here’s a short video that shows what I mean. I can identify 4 species of waterfowl from this. Can you? The first one to point them out will receive a VBL coffee mug! Good Luck!
