Ice Out Update #7 … Trout Fishing???

We’ve had some open water out in front of the lodge which inspired a couple of short trolling passes in search of a trout…

Gull Rock seems a bit icy!
The ice pack seems thin, but very interesting for Stella and Lilly.
A gratuitous shot of cabin 3 awaiting opening day!
A few ice shards on the small island by camp.

Unfortunately no trout have found us yet but the plan is some smoked trout for the first fish fry…

On another subject…cabin renovation of cabin 6.  Things are progressing.  Part of the process is recycling materials from the demolition to be incorporated into the new look.  Of course some of this material has historical significance, illustrated by this piece of what was once pine paneling that is now baseboard material.  I hope F.G. and S. G. are still happy!  Where is Jeff K. now?  Many unanswered questions that are still present in our cabins…

I’m thinking we are getting very close to ice out….and catching a trout!  Stay tuned.

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
