Ice Out Contest: Update #3

As April winds down the last couple of days have been sunny and warm. Some good rain predicted over the next few days which will help with lake levels. Let’s have a look at current conditions……

Looking snow free from this angle, but still piles of snow in the shady spots.

Ice is starting to look a bit dicey, but still pretty tight to shore and showing no signs of movement…..yet.

Mergansers are enjoying a bit of open water. As usual the creek is a mecca of bird life at this early stage of the season.

We need a foot or two of water….

Always optimistic, the geese are enjoying a bit of fresh green grass. Free fertilizer is a spin-off benefit.

In the past few weeks I’ve spent a number of days surfing the couch and watching day time television. It’s highly overrated, but when you’re trying to get rid of a kidney stone it’s about all you can do. Fortunately I seem to be over the worst of it……..I’m just happy it didn’t happen during the season!

So, there’s still time to throw in an ice out guess. If you haven’t done so already you might as well go for it! Opening is going to be here before we know it. Stay tuned for further developments!
