June Fishing Report…

July 7, 2025

Yes, I know I’m late. Those poor souls living vicariously through my blog posts have become restless, so here goes……..starting from the end of June and working our way back………pictures only, explanations to follow:

The latter part of June was fantastic if you were wanting to eat a lot of mayflies, but it definitely posed challenges to our anglers. Picture above, Mike Mitchell was able to enter 3 fish on the “board” despite the dire straits.

The fishing was slow but this young lad made a whole $2 picking up the pine cones in from of cabin one. Way to go Graham……..my buddy!

Vibrant colors on this pike. My guess is Favell Bay!

The flowers were in their prime in June…….so were the fishermen.

Prime time, George Benger…aka Grumpy.

Oh, the women were wild and the walleye were snappin’……

Rare photo of a smilin’ Mark Rowe…..

Successful few hours of shallow water action (5 feet).

Some smokey days this June…….forest fires!

Strange sunrise over the boathouse (orange dot behind the musky).

That’s more like it.

The Tennessee boys do know how to find the bass..

Showing off a bit…

Interesting looking tiger musky.

(now he’s smiling)

That one was in good! The V-Bay clinic fixed him up real purdy…

Sometimes you just got to let it all hang out……….

Well, the fishing has been a bit of a challenge. Starting out the month the fish seemed to be off their usual haunts……..more sporadic and often shallower than expected, however many decent fish were caught as well as some personal bests. The mayfly hatch added some challenging times as we ended the month, but like they say, it’s better than work! We’re looking forward to some great July fishing………whether walleye, pike, musky or bass (or for those adventurous a trip back to Clearwater Lake to chase the lake trout).

Wanting a last minute opportunity? We’ve had a couple openings come up (even one for Walleye Madness at the end of July!). Give me a shout if you want to come up, or even add a second trip. Signing off, till the end of July………..

Testimonials

This is a first class resort located on Vermillion Bay on Eagle Lake. The cabins are very clean and well kept. The boats are new with new motors and are in great shape. The owner will also clean your fish for you after your day on the water. Make no mistake the fishing on Eagle Lake is world class.

The Lodge is owned by Gord and Susanne Bastable who will make you feel welcome and before you know it you feel like family. They are the best of hosts. The atmosphere is low key and laid back leading to a great vacation.

This is my 19th year of enjoying the hospitality of the lodge and i can’t think of going anywhere else on Eagle Lake.
