July 2025, Fishing Report

Two 50 inch muskies, baby gulls flying solo, a forest fire haze and a winning walleye for Walleye Madness……

It’s hard to sum up the month of July without noticing it was a fast one! Into August here we go, hard on the heels of some great memories made the past month. Let’s check it out…

It was a smokey month as this sunrise smoke & fog combo shows.
The fish house was busy in July!
Many bass caught this past month.

Dennis is all smiles with this dandy….
The Derek Zehr family had the walleyes zoned in…
Some nice pike this month as well.
One of the fifty inch muskies caught in July…..this one by Musky Mike. No forward facing sonar required!
A quick release with an “in the water” photo is ideal.

Smokey morning rush hour as the boats head out…..

Walleye Madness…

The end of July was our Walleye Madness Week with a big group of newbies participating.

Wayne Michalek squeezed out the competition with a 25 1/4″ walleye….congratulations!
Last years winner Al Haggart took second and third place this year….but will be back in 2026 to kick some ass!
Drunk and disorderly, the Moonier gang.
Alan Kingcade came out of no-where to claim the biggest “other” division with his 50″ musky
Eric Gracey in second with a 44 1/2″ musky. Seated in foreground, the notorious “honorable mention”, Graham Taylor.
….and in third with a 36 1/4 inch northern, Micah Ferguson.
Finally a winner on the longest fish caught in the retro spinner category, Aaron Taylor.
There was no shortage of food at the awards night!

That’s a wrap for July, 2025….

Need in on the action for 2026? Why wait till all the cabins are gone? Operators are standing by …(if standing by means reclining in the porch…)

Meanwhile down the road our project has seen some cement work……

  1. I love the scenery pictures. It certainly was very smoky at times when we were there. Great to see so many smiling kids with Fish. Ducks!

Testimonials

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
