Professor May 13, 2014 at 10:01 am Reply Gord…If you’re going to be optimistic you have to commit to the mindset. You are not too optimistic. But, the presence of the snow machines in the photos reveals a lingering sense of pessimism. This creates a conflict between the upper and lower parts of your brain. I urge you to store those snow machines now, before something horrible happens. I don’t think any of your guests want to show up at VBL only to find the “Bad Gord” in a foul mood. Friends, please take a moment to offer Gord a few encouraging words. His struggle is our struggle. And we all benefit from joyful karma that flows from the “Good Gord”. Won’t you help?

Professor May 14, 2014 at 9:23 am Reply TR…I’m going to share with you a little known story told to me by New Mexican Bill a few years ago. Back in the day, when Gord was cutting his teeth as a fishing guide on Eagle Lake, he suffered a serious injury. This happened while he was in a fish house filleting up walleyes for his client. According to Bill, who witnessed the incident, Gord slipped on the wet floor and fell hard, banging his head on a metal tackle box so violently that it dented. Amazingly, he popped right back up and resumed filleting. But something was not right. The shaped of Gord’s head was noticeably different–it was reshaped into something longer and more angular. Plus, he couldn’t talk right. He was rushed into a hospital where doctors found that his brain shifted from the normal right/left hemisphere position to an upper/lower position in his skull. A full 90 degree shift was thought to be impossible to survive, but Gord did. He became a bit of a celebrity and briefly worked for a circus. But, he returned to guiding within a year and met Susanne. The courtship period was brief and intense, lasting but three weeks. Then they married and shortly thereafter purchased the defunct Little Norway Resort and renamed it Vermilion Bay Lodge. Twenty-some years later and here we are, eagerly looking forward to returning as guests to VBL in 2014. Something tells me that this would not be the case without that slip and fall in the fish house.
