Bob Dekker and his son Jackson flew from New Brunswick for two days of trout fishing and reminiscing about past trips to Clearwater Lake back when Bob was much younger.  The last day of May and first day of June did not disappoint.

…not always big, but often plentiful and very tasty…..

On the last night in camp they take the opportunity to try the same shallow trolling techniques near the camp…..and with some big results.   Jackson with a 30 inch lake trout!

…and a good release.  A great end to a short trip.  Thank you Bob and Jackson for the pics!

    1. Andy, try not to be so critical on the Perchmaster. He’s missed a few years up here and his ability to identify fish is somewhat diminished.

If you like GREAT fishing, hospitality and affordability, Vermilion Bay Lodge is highly recommended. I have been making the trip to Vermilion Bay Lodge for the past 10 years and have never once been disappointed. If you like great walleye, northern, musky and trout fishing, this place should not be overlooked. The fishing has been excellent… no matter what time we went. Gordy and Susanne are wonderful hosts that will make you feel right at home. Check it out – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
