Musky Madness: September 24 – October 1, 2016

Gord is a little shy when it comes to promotion, but I am told there are still openings for Musky Madness, September 24 October 1, 2016. The professor and I attended for the first time last year and I can say a good time was had by all. The shuffle board tournament was rigged as usual, but the Professor showed off his netting skills while boating my 48″ musky with a walleye net. Anyone who has fished Eagle Lake knows you don’t have to be fishing musky in order to catch them. We would love to have some more guests in camp to make it more difficult for the professor to go home with the trophy and goodies.

As some of you know, Jeremy Wade went home with the trophy in 2014. His fish was caught on light tackle while jigging for walleye. I repeated that pattern in 2015 while bottom bouncing for walleye. The professor and I wore ourselves out that morning winging musky baits for the elusive Esox Masquinongy. We went in for lunch and after a hearty lunch we decided to switch things up and go fishing for walleye. I ended up catching this 48″ musky. About 30 minutes later I landed a beefy 10#+ walleye. It was an incredible day on Eagle Lake. And the Professor? The lucky bastard got to net both fish.

The fishing season isn’t over! Come join us. Perhaps Gord could post the agenda for festivities?

  1. For the record, I’m sick and tired of being Andy’s “netman”. He won the 2015 Musy Madness Tourney because I skillfully netted his big fish. He was awarded a very nice musky rod for his achievement, plus lots of applause and accolades. But it pisses me off that he won’t share that new rod for a few casts. The stingy bastard.

On behalf of the Boyes Group, I would like to pass on our sincere thanks for hosting the Muskie Madness Week and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at VBL and had a great time!! This was our 7th year on Eagle Lake and we have stayed at a few other lodges but VBL takes the cake hands down! You can definitely count us in for next year. I’m happy to see you post some of my pics, they turned out well. Thanks again Gord for a wonderful week of fishing and your stellar hospitality, you run a first class operation, we look forward to seeing you next year!
