The Beaver

I went fishing today with the Professor and my son Shawn. We talked about VBL guests and things we were going to try during our next visit to VBL. I have a new “helicopter” bait I plan on using for jigging for whitefish and trout. The professor is toying with the idea of trolling spinners on a 3-way rig for trout.
I noted that Shawn was wearing a pair of camo pants given to me by Keith Mitchell. Worked great on a day when Shawn couldn’t find his bibs.
Clearly, we can’t wait until our next visit. Clearly the fishing wasn’t as good as it is on Eagle. We had only one lake trout to show for our efforts.
So, my mind had time to wonder. I remembered that NO VBL guests resemble Richard Nixon. But the more I looked at the Professor, I began to think…that’s it! The real Beaver…Jerry Mathers. Now, the Beav has not aged well. But if you could spackle the cracks in his face, I do believe there is a resemblance to the Professor?

Now the Beav/Professor is a mighty fine angler and I enjoy spending time on the water with him. And there is nothing better than a son who still likes to fish with his old man. If you have been procrastinating on a fishing trip this year, don’t miss out on these opportunities. Book your trip now! If you come up in September, you might be able to get your VBL cap autographed by the Beav.
