Ice Out Contest 2018

My plan was to start the contest when I noticed some spring like conditions happening.  Alas, this seems to be the year of eternal winter.  Most days have been well below freezing and the long range forecast does show some improvement……but nights are still going to be COLD!  Last year about a week from now I was documenting muskies swimming around by the docks.  This year I’m documenting cracks in the ice…

If you’re wondering what conditions were like last year at this time just check out this post from last April.  If you are wondering what conditions are like now just check out the following photos…

This from this morning…

The snowmachines in the photo are a bad sign.  Even some of the trees have had a bad winter…

Bent from the weight of snow these trees in front of Cabin 2 have an appointment with Mr. Chainsaw….

Well, we might as well start the process.  The ice will eventually go, but when?  That’s your task.  Submit your guess to me via email  There will be only one winner…..the person who picks the date (of ice out) first.  Do you wait till you have more information and risk someone getting “your” date?  That is the dilemma.  Watch for the signs…..and GOOD LUCK!  The winner gets to select any item from the fabulous selection of new VBL bling.  Anyone can enter, the only stipulation is you must pick up your prize in person.

What else is going on, you might ask?

Remember the cabin 4 renovation that started last Fall?  Well, I’m back at it.  So far it’s a shell of it’s former self.

May 19th is coming pretty fast.  The phrase “Gord is buggered” comes to mind.

Testimonials

This is a first class resort located on Vermillion Bay on Eagle Lake. The cabins are very clean and well kept. The boats are new with new motors and are in great shape. The owner will also clean your fish for you after your day on the water. Make no mistake the fishing on Eagle Lake is world class.

The Lodge is owned by Gord and Susanne Bastable who will make you feel welcome and before you know it you feel like family. They are the best of hosts. The atmosphere is low key and laid back leading to a great vacation.

This is my 19th year of enjoying the hospitality of the lodge and i can’t think of going anywhere else on Eagle Lake.
