Perchmaster April 5, 2009 at 9:20 pm Nice job Gord about time you get off the couch and get out on the ice for some fishing.3 feet of ice and 6 weeks away from opening week-end, I like that.OK enough fishing now for you get back to work and get the camp ready for spring fishing.
Gord April 6, 2009 at 7:04 pm Most likely fish cakes. Susanne also wants to smoke one so my “mission” is to catch another one for that purpose.
Anonymous April 6, 2009 at 8:53 pm Nice lookin’ fish!! Not sure about 36″ of ice and 7 weeks until we’re there…… Can’t wait!Dustin
Perchmaster April 6, 2009 at 11:40 pm Dustin when do you arrive?Sounds like you will be there when we are this year, be nice to put a face to a name.
Perchmaster April 6, 2009 at 11:45 pm Gord I just can’t pass on this as I seen this one day as a joke on way’s on how to smoke a lake trout. Here is the recipe on how to smoke a lake trout?“I usually light the tail, pinch the gills and suck on the mouth”There is one for you and Susanne to try on one of those lonely night at the lodge.
Anonymous April 7, 2009 at 12:41 am Perchmaster, There are 4 of us arriving on 5/23 (Saturday) and leaving Wednesday night (after a day of fishing). We’re leaving Northern Indiana on Friday night…just over 900 miles! It’s our first time up to that part of Ontario, so we’re really looking forward to it! Dustin
Andy Lewis April 7, 2009 at 3:21 pm Now really Gord…did you come up with that name? The Chubby Darter? I’m amazed that those perch would hit a lure of that size? Maybe you can identify some spots for perch that are a little closer to home than the Perchmaster’s honey hole described on your web site? Last spring, we did find a concentration of perch off to the left before you enter the river going back to Clear Water. There is a shallow flat there with a ton of perch, but most were smaller. Also a few walleyes. Dustin….catch a few of those monster lakers for us!
Gord April 7, 2009 at 3:30 pm The “Chubby Darter” is the name of the lure made by Salmo. Sorry, I can’t take credit for it. As far as the perch….these are Canadian perch, not the whimpy Wisconsin variety that you are probably familiar with. Schools of these have been known to take down a full grown moose. You’ld be aggressive too if you lived under ice for ten months of the year!
Anonymous April 7, 2009 at 4:54 pm HELLO;CHUBBY DARTER FISHER Those are fine looking fish!I really am looking forward to visiting this year.Such a variety of catchable fish.Chuck in Toronto
Perchmaster April 7, 2009 at 10:27 pm See ya then Dustin we arrive early on the 23rd for the week so will meet you then.Gord cannot give up any spots for perch near the camp for reasons I can’t say.Dustin you will know who we are in Cabins 1 and 2 we will be the ones drinking all of Gords beer?HAHA!!!
Anonymous April 8, 2009 at 2:57 am Sounds like fun!! Not sure which cabin we’re in, but will be fishing our brains out during the day and having some fun at night as well! 45 days….not that I’m counting or anything. Dustin
Gord April 8, 2009 at 12:59 pm Dustin, you will have no problem recognizing Perch Master. He will be the one with the yellow beret, crotchless leather chaps and carrying a riding crop.
Perchmaster April 8, 2009 at 9:48 pm WOW That was not nice Gord!!!Here I am doing all I can for you and you go and BLAST me like that.I will remember that in 44 day’s.Just so all of you know I am known mostly for towing Gord back to camp at least once a trip in May.We will not mention the reasons why like busting a prop on the way up to Clearwater or engine problems on the way to visit the inland for cocktails one evening.Gloves off Gord you ask for it.Maybe if you slip a case of Labatts Light on my porch Dustin I will steer you to the secret perch spot?
Perchmaster April 8, 2009 at 9:57 pm Now that I look back at previous posts you have been smacking me around pretty good.Think I will be bringing some extra Chenna Bait along and will run your entire camp to the “PERCH HOT SPOT” so you can clean all day long.
Gord April 8, 2009 at 10:46 pm In the fish house renovation I included a commercial blender (Perch-O-Matic) to handle all the perch that are brought in.
Anonymous April 9, 2009 at 2:29 am Wow…I feel the love….lol. The more I read, the more I’m getting ready to head up there!! Dustin
Perchmaster April 9, 2009 at 8:00 pm Wow…I feel the love….lol.There is no LOVE from GordHAHA!!!Will be a great time as always
Andy Lewis April 13, 2009 at 7:24 pm Dustin, Don’t let Gord fool you. He is the master of the fillet knife and LOVES to fillet perch. The more the better. Andy
Perchmaster April 13, 2009 at 9:41 pm Don’t let Gord fool you. He is the master of the fillet knife and LOVES to fillet perch. The more the better.Just make sure you bring beer down to the ol fish house, then he is HAPPY!!!
Gord April 15, 2009 at 1:51 am Too bad that starting this year you will have to purchase a “Perch Stamp” to go along with your regular fishing licence. Apparently the “stamp” has the portrait of the “Queen” on it.
Perchmaster April 15, 2009 at 11:25 pm O you are such a card Gord. Here I thought you were going to tell us that the fish house was going alcohol free!!!!If they were to have a “PERCH STAMP” they would have the king of perch fishing on it.(ME)
