Big Papa?

In an earlier post, Joel from the All Canada show suggested that Gord was beginning to look a bit like George Bernard Shaw. That seemed a bit harsh. I was glad that post didn’t take an ugly turn like the one where Gord suggested that Sir Charles looked like Richard Nixon.

However, a few weeks ago I was down in Key West and we stopped by Sloppy Joe’s. They had lots of pictures of the annual Big Papa Look-a-like contest. Now I don’t know if Gord looks more like George Bernard Shaw or Ernest Hemmingway, but at least Ernest knew how to fish. You be the judge. Does Gord look more like George Bernard Shaw, Ernest Hemmingway or Charles Manson?

  1. Once I was at a dinner with Joel (from All-Canada) and he told a woman he looked like Brad Pit with a hat on….she told him to put a hat on. I thought the picture of George Bernard Shaw was Gord at the end of the season!

  2. O.K. you guys, I leave for a week and come back to this! I'm flattered that Andy has "saved" what must be one of the worse pictures of yours truly.

  3. I think it's very unfair to compare Gord to anyone else. He's a one-of-a-kind Canuk. Someday, parents throughout Canada will be naming their sons after him, perhaps their daughters as well.

Of greater interest to me is this particular photo of Gord. I've never seen him up pre-dawn before. So there must have been something really important to be doing. I'm thinking that he just crawled out of bed by his squinty eyes. Perhaps that beer in the long neck is the perfect eye-opener for such an occasion.

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
