Ice on the move………..

……….and so is Lucy. Nothing like a brisk swim in ice water to shake off the winter blues.

A canoe ride is the alternative that Susanne and I opted for. Unfortunately the ice was jammed up against the point ending our short adventure.

Here’s a shot around noon, about the time the wind started to pick up. Hey, wait a sec……does that say April 10th!! Still ice on the lake! Oh, Perchmaster, you shot for the stars and ended up hitting the ditch…….better luck next year!

A few hours later and the wind is working it’s magic. Note the strip of open water out in the centre of the bay. Will the ice succumb today? Tomorrow? Who the hell knows? Stay tuned!

  1. O'well there is always next year.
Sure does look beutiful out there on the lake..
Bet if you could get to my honey hole Sunday Gord and work those circles you could have a nice fresh walleye dinner for Susanne….
Maybe try some of those lime green tinsel jigs that VMC came out with last year they caught lots of fish for us……
OK no more tips for you till I get there….

  2. Your right the season doesn't close till the 15th. This would have to set some records…fishing out of a boat before the season closes! Unlikely I will get to do it but I imagine some of the spawning areas would be bulging with walleyes!

  3. Probably not a good idea you get out fishing now anyways as you need to get the camp ready.
Who knows maybe by May 1st you will be done with all your work this year?
But then again when you fall asleep tonight you will be thinking about those 30"+ lady walleyes roaming the shores of Eagle Lake….

Thank you very much for making my get a way week so enjoyable. Dan and I had a great time. You and Susanne should be commended on how clean and well maintained your cabins and lodge are. I will recommend you to anyone that is looking to go to Canada fishing and I look forward to the time I can come back.
