Things you might see on a portage trail……

……a hidden lake ……….

…….a large wolf poop……..

…….a boggy trail (bring your boots!)……

…….a large sweaty man in a moment of reflective contemplation……….

………what the hey!……more wolf poop……..

…..a pair of abandoned sunglasses (refer to wolf poop above…..coincidence or tragic reality?)
…….fresh moose tracks…………

……..non-electric beaver activity…………
…….interesting flora…………..

……..weird flora………………

…….plenty of flora…………….

……..purple flora………….
………..and rose colored flora to go with those sunglasses. The moral of the story is to always keep your eyes peeled when on that next “death march” to a hidden lake………you never know what you might stumble upon. Perhaps you will even run into the owner of those sunglasses!

  1. Gord,

Everything looks rosy since acquiring these sunglasses. I think these were once worn by one of the sled dogs?

  2. Andy

I would like to see that musky pic can't wait for you to post it…
Always nice when Gord leads you on a trail to the neverlands and it produces me myself I have heard about these such adventures and the horror story's and the no fish in that lake story a little to often…

Gord does get lucky once in a while taking you to a spot or 2 but I am thinking he plays the guide game with me and does not take me to those secret spots where the trophys await me…
In closing great report and very nice pics I am sure Susanne would ahve enjoyed that backwoods adventure I wounder if Gord ever takes her on one of those killer hikes without the snowmachines?
Keep the post coming Andy and what about Professor Joe does he not blog reports?

  3. Hi Perchmaster…I've been confined to lurking due to a kitchen renovation project. I will post a report featuring back country experiences next week.

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
