Walleye Opener 2011…

The “walleye opener” on Eagle Lake was memorable here at Vermilion Bay Lodge…..even if you weren’t fishing!  The Martinson group from Winnipeg seemed to enjoy the long weekend visiting, playing horseshoes and taking in the scenery.

Fishing the walleye opener….

Weather for the walleye opener was all over the map… sun, rain, warm, cold… in other words, a fairly normal opening week.  Fishing was constantly changing as well.  Water temperatures fell during the week creating some interesting opportunities for species such as lake trout.

…and what about the walleye during the “Walleye Opener”?

It was an interesting Walleye Opener in 2011…

From fishing Eagle Lake for the various species, to getting back into Clearwater Lake for trout,  portaging into some of the “back lakes” for bass …it was an interesting week.  Thank you to all of our guests and friends who spent the week with us!

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
