Mark and Kurt’s opening week

Opening week on Eagle Lake…

Well another great trip to Vermilion Bay Lodge for opening week.

First off want to thank Gord, Susanne and Mike for making it another great trip for my partner Mark and I.

The fishing was good and sometimes fantastic, portage trips to the “unknown lake”  were really good, especially when you know how to get on them!

1/8oz jigs tipped with minnows worked best this year with #14 Husky jerks working good for walleye and catching lots of northern pike.

Weather was up and down this year but for the most part can’t complain.

Got to fish with Gord on the last day and we made the trek to trout holes 1 and 2 for the first time with only one lake trout coming on the venture but when returning to the Walleye Highway Mark nailed a couple of nice lake trout along with some northerns. Also headed to Sportsman Bay and hit a few walleye.  Seems as though everytime fishing with Gord we have some weather to deal with and this day was no exception with strong winds most of the day.

Since the perch fishing was out of this world this year it will deserve it’s own story which will follow in the coming days.

Stay tuned…

Well between Gord and I we have been trying to set up a gallery but I will just post a few pics and we will figure it out later.

Thank you very much for making my get a way week so enjoyable. Dan and I had a great time. You and Susanne should be commended on how clean and well maintained your cabins and lodge are. I will recommend you to anyone that is looking to go to Canada fishing and I look forward to the time I can come back.
