Ice out update…May 8, 2013 “Damn the ice, full steam ahead!”

Just because the ice is slow to go doesn’t mean things aren’t getting done.  A new deck going up in the vicinity of cabin #2 will give folks a nice spot to grill a steak, view the lake, and tell tall tales of a “trout-o-rama” frenzy (feel free to substitute walleye, bull perch, or whatever species tickles your fancy) with a cold brew in hand.

Bryce is hard at it, raking the hill and wishing he had a few northern pike to practice his filleting skills on.  Soon enough Bryce….soon enough.

For those of you intensely interested in how the ice is fairing, on a bi-hourly basis, Ron Harris emailed me this link to a web cam just west of Vermilion Bay.  thanks Ron!

  1. Good idea, the new deck. Stop being so hard on Bryce. I’ve almost got the final bone from last season’s pike through the system….almost.

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
