Lodge addition….

For those of you who are familiar with the lodge I thought it might be interesting to post a few pictures from the addition we started late last summer. A few years back we had a tornado knock down most of the big red pine around our house on Eagle Lake. We had most of these sawn into timbers with the intention of using them for a building project. Well, finally they are being put to a good use. What you are looking at in these two pictures is some of the details of the timber frame process…..everything is notched and many joints are pinned together with wooden pegs. If you are going to be around the lodge next July & August you will be able to see the next phase of timber frame construction going up. It is a unique way of building and a very good use of those 200 year old trees.

  1. Hi Gord…Congratulations on getting the Eagle Lake Blog going. I’m wondering what week the grand re-opening will occur. Will all former guests be invited? And will we be able to stay for free as part of the gala?

Testimonials

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
