Well, the fishing trip to Eagle Lake is over.  Hopefully some great memories of the trip to Vermilion Bay Lodge will last until the June of 2012 rolls around!  Even the misadventure of Kerry’s trailer coming apart will be a part of the stories told about this June fishing trip to Eagle Lake.  And how did Kerry get his boat home?

Kerry’s new trailer

The old trailer was a write-off, so with a few phone calls to dealers (and the insurance agent) a new trailer is secured.  The Lund looks much better sitting on wheels rather than in the gravel!

Thanks to Scott and his group for being part of the good times at the lodge and for taking some great photos of their fishing trip to Eagle Lake!

It’s not too soon to plan your June fishing trip to Eagle Lake…

  1. Thanks much to Gord, Sue and Mike at Vermillion Bay Lodge for making my first fishing experience a memorable one. I will be back with Scott and the crew in June, 2012 to get the big ones that I let get away and to teach those so called “experts” a thing or two. My hat is off for to all involved for getting me to try fishing at such a delightful spot and also for getting me to eat freh caught and cooked Walleye and Northern Pike. The service and hospitality at the Vermillion Bay Lodge was the icing on the cake. I do, though, need to keep better company in my travels but after saying that I think it would have been very enjoyable to have had Gord as a ride-along in my squad car on a busy night! As Bob Hope used to say with great feeling, “Thanks for the memories”

  2. By the way, I am not that fat in reality. The pictures of me are very distorted. Also, I developed a taste for “OV” thanks to Gord. He can explain that to all the readers if he wants to.

  3. Well, Dave (Walleye Wiz), it was a pleasure having you at the lodge and watching you bloom into a walleye catching machine. You set the “bar” for walleye fishing intensity in your group. I would be happy to ride along as shotgun in your squad car……I particularly like high speed chases and shoot-outs. By the way, the distortion that you point out is in fact a condition known as “trout waist”……several of my more successful anglers seem to have to battle that condition.

    1. O you did not go there did you!!!!
Dave I am thinking Gord can get you to like just about any type of alcohol beverage!!!
They do always taste better when your away from home…

    2. “Trout Waist” has become a chronic condition for me. The medical literrature describes it as “a pronounced bulge in the belly and hip area”. Sadly, the condition seems to be getting worse, particularly during the past few years. I’ve tried to overcome it with eating better using solutions my friend, Andy, has suggested. These have included “the walleye diet”, “the pike diet”, and “the whitefish diet”. When these didn’t work, Andy urged me to try “the sauce diet”, which consisted of copious amounts of wine, beer and various cocktails. Though tasty, this didn’t work either and now I’m getting concerned. Andy says that I may not be “wired properly” for dieting and that getting aggitated won’t help anything. He now suggests daily “recliner rest” incorporating several hours of watching reruns of “The Beverly Hillbillies”.

Anyone out there tried this? What kind of results did you get?
