Vern “Andy” Anderson passes away, 10-11-09

I am sad to report that my father-in-law Vern “Andy” Anderson passed away today. I’m glad he was able to make two trips up to VBL in the last few years of his 75 years. He spoke warmly about the memories of fishing with Gord, having lunch with the Mitchells in their cottage, and most of all…fishing with his grandson’s Shawn, Kyle, and Patrick. Of course, in order to enjoy that, he had to put up with his 2 son-in-laws.
Vern was an amazing father, son, husband, and grandfather. He loved the outdoors and taught me a lot about hunting in fishing in the 33 years that I knew him.
If you have been thinking about taking someone dear to you to VBL lodge the last few years….do it soon. Life is too short.

  1. Andy……very sorry to hear that Vern has passed on. He was a good guy and I enjoyed having him visit us at the lodge. I remember him as having a good sense of humour, being soft spoken and layed back…..and enjoying his fishing trips with his grandsons, and son-in-law. Gone but not forgotten….my condolences to the family.

On behalf of the Boyes Group, I would like to pass on our sincere thanks for hosting the Muskie Madness Week and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at VBL and had a great time!! This was our 7th year on Eagle Lake and we have stayed at a few other lodges but VBL takes the cake hands down! You can definitely count us in for next year. I’m happy to see you post some of my pics, they turned out well. Thanks again Gord for a wonderful week of fishing and your stellar hospitality, you run a first class operation, we look forward to seeing you next year!
