Merry Covid Free Christmas!

It’s that time of year when I send off the annual “Beaver”…our VBL newsletter to our friends and guests. This edition has hit the post office and should be winding it’s way as we speak. One of the main reasons for the newsletter is to recap the past season; refreshing the memories of our guests, and to let those who didn’t make it know what they missed. With a season such as 2020, it was a bit of a creative exercise…I hope you find it interesting.

Coincidence?

Tom Thomson is a well regarded photographer from Kenora, Ontario. On a recent visit to the lodge Susanne asked if he was related to another Tom Thomson whom she had a framed picture of…

This latter Tom Thomson (check the yellow underlined link…he was a famous Canadian artist), turns out to be our visiting Tom’s great grandfather’s cousin….and a photo he hasn’t seen before.

Susanne originally bought the framed photo in the gift shop of the ferry that runs across Georgian Bay, from Manitoulin Island to Tobermory. Now that’s a coincidence!

So there you have it…

A bit of a mixture of new and old. We hope that things return to normal in the coming months and that we’ll get to see most of you in the near future. Till then, stay safe and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    We stayed there in 2018 and absolutely loved it. We did the portage and still talk about how you were waiting on the dock for us to return and the awesome day we had. We are hoping to come back in 2021. Merry Christmas

      Like most yanks,we missed our vacation in June. We hope for life to have some semblance of normal in 21. If not, are there any tunnels under the border?

    Like all the brightly coloured holiday scenes. Like Tom Thompson I have fished at Lake Scugog, caught muskies there too.

    Already my thoughts turn to 2021. With a couple of vaccines now available, we are hoping that we will be able to come up for the musky week. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and look forward to quality time on Eagle Lake and the warmness of “Musky Week”.

    Merry Christmas to all, and a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!! I, for one, am looking forward to seeing 2020 in the rear view mirror! Let’s all hope the vaccines work, or that herd immunity kicks in. I read this morning that Canada has now developed the newest (more contagious) strain of the virus from either Europe or the UK. Stay Safe up in the Great White North, I would like to be able to return!
