When the whales of November came early…

Hello friends of “the goat”…a local VBay variety that seems curious about the goings on around town. Well, let me tell you all about it…

On the horizon a winter storm looms…

Yes, this super mild fall we’ve been having is coming to a crashing close in the next few days. Rain, snow, wind and cold temperatures. I guess it’s about time but before it gets here let me tell you about the past few weeks. Fishing has been great!

The walleye bite has been terrific…maybe not a whale, but too big to keep!
Some fine dining opportunities!
In the “walleye hole” some unexpected company…post season lakers!
Maybe next year!
Same spot, next day…
Just a different angler…
…but it was the walleye we were interested in.
Unfortunately, this musky didn’t get the memo.
When was the last time we visited the swimming point on November 7th with this kind of weather?
…and we were even lucky enough to pick up dinner on the way home!
Sunrise at VBL on a balmy November 2021…a touch of frost.

Fellas, it’s been good t’know ya…

…we’ll meet again next season. Till then, take care and stay warm!

  1. Hey Gord,

Its the end of January and we need some words of wisdom! I’m down to one can of Kokanee
and I need a VBL fix. See what you can do!

    Thanks, Bob Swanson

Testimonials

This is a first class resort located on Vermillion Bay on Eagle Lake. The cabins are very clean and well kept. The boats are new with new motors and are in great shape. The owner will also clean your fish for you after your day on the water. Make no mistake the fishing on Eagle Lake is world class.

The Lodge is owned by Gord and Susanne Bastable who will make you feel welcome and before you know it you feel like family. They are the best of hosts. The atmosphere is low key and laid back leading to a great vacation.

This is my 19th year of enjoying the hospitality of the lodge and i can’t think of going anywhere else on Eagle Lake.
