Merry Christmas!

Greetings to all the friends of VBL…….we hope your Christmas preparations are going smoothly! The above photo is a view of the lodge you’re probably not familiar with. It’s actually a view from the other side of the creek. With the recent dump of snow some of the lake has turned a bit slushy….not a favorite of the dogs. This back door walking path avoids that issue. Perhaps some doggy rubber boots for Christmas?

Current conditions at the lodge with plenty of new fallen snow. The wind blown stuff really highlights the log construction of these three cabins.

Some smoke from the fireplace, wood pellets piled by the door, and a walkway waiting to be shoveled.

The Beaver:

Every year I send out our newsletter around this time. Until last year this was a printed version mailed out……a bit old school. Well, last year we had a mail strike and things kind of went by the wayside. This year we decided to try and gather everyone’s email address so that we could reach more of our guests. What I’m getting at is that I’ve emailed the latest version of the Beaver but I’m sure some people have missed out or the email has landed in their junk folder. If you haven’t received one then maybe check your trash bin. If it’s not there then we probably didn’t have your email address…….please let me know if you want me to resend by shooting me an email at vbay@drytel.net. I will forward you the latest action packed Beaver!

One thing I should mention that was incorrect in the newsletter, and that was the dates for our last week we are open in 2026. It should have read September 26 to October 3rd. So if you’re interested in catching the last few days of the lake trout season, or wanting to try some late season musky fishing…..or any type of fishing for that matter, give us a shout. Don’t wait too long though, things are booking fast. Here’s an interesting photo from this year around that time…

Well that’s a wrap folks…..

We wish you all the best for this Christmas and for the coming New Year. Stay warm, stay calm……

  1. Chopping kindling to fine pieces is tough but to continue to pellets must be arduous at best! Happy holidays and a warm and peaceful 2026 to all in your clan. We will be up to Eagle one of these years.

Testimonials

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
