The ice………she lingers……….

…….like the aroma of a wet dog on your truck seat………it takes a while to dissipate. So too with the ice. With a switch in wind direction the ice has moved back towards the lodge……….that’s the black area on the photo.

Susanne and I hiked down the walking trail to a point past the government dock…..McColl’s Island and Strawberry Island in the background, with some ice off to the right.

What’s left of the ice looks like this……just a bunch of ice shards packed together. I would be surprised to see what’s left last another day. Some rain for tomorrow should finish it off…..stay tuned!

  1. Some more great pics Gord
I can see those lake trout roaming the shores of Vermilion Bay in those pics, you might want to get out for an hour and troll those hot spots and hook into a 20lb trout for the blog…

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
