May 23rd-29th report

Arrived at VBL on early Saturday and did some chit chat with Gord and then unloaded the gear from the trucks into our cabin and put the rods/reels together and headed out for some walleye fishing.

Both Sat/Sun was great fishing weather with temps in the 60’s and the fish were snapping.
Monday showed up and by 10:30 we had rain and wind and that lasted a couple of day’s so on Tuesday got to get out with Gord for the day to find out his spots that he dreams of, needless to say both Gord and Mark showed how it is done.
Thursday we hit Highrock for the day and within 5 minutes I landed the my biggest walleye a 28″er that was huge female not spawned out yet and 5 minutes later I landed a 27″er. Fishing was a little slower on Highrock but the quality of fish was just unreal.
Did some lake trout fishing and had out limit within 1/2 hour and finished with 8 in a little over an hours time.
Fished what is now renamed “Hoosier Highway” for northerns on Friday and they were hitting pretty fast and had our take home fish in no time.
As you can see from the pictures we had plenty of action most of the time.

    Can I just say how honored we are the name "Hoosier Highway" may actually stick in the VBL vocabulary!! I'm as giddy as a school girl and would celebrate with a drink if we hadn't left the rest of our Maker's Mark at the Lodge last week when we left!

    Great pictures perchmaster! I think you are confusing the "Hoosier Highway", which I believe is on Clearwater, with the almost legendary "Walleye Highway" that only VBL guests will ever know about. Perhaps Dustin can give me the particulars on the Hoosier Highway, so as to immortalize it into VBL lore. Dustin…..give me a call or email me the details….of course this can remain "your" secret spot. We need more secret spots….it adds to the mystery.

    It warms the cockles of my heart to see Gord filleting a few perch! With the darkness of the photo however, its a little difficult to see his scowl.

    Perchmaster…Thanks for the nice posting. It looks like you had a good trip despite the weather and water too cold for a boatload of perch. Did you get any big lakers?

    We had a few Eagle Lake Trout and 8 on Clearwater.We should have tried a few things for those Lakers as they were surfacing.
    I have more pics Charles but first will let the dust settle a little here then maybe post a bunch more this week-end. I am glad you guy’s are enjoying the pics, it always is better than reading in my opinion.
    Gord you might very well be correct on that Highway thing I think I was confused again?

    Yep….HH is over on Clearwater. I'll send Gord a map with the details of the super highway to share with those VBL guests he deems worthy!!

    I have reviewed the "map". I committed it to memory and burnt all the evidence. It will go to the grave with me…along with the Walleye Highway, the Muskie Highway, the Hawg Trough and the Straits of Gull Isle………so many places, not enough time….

    And a few that you have dreamed about that don't have names yet?
