Ice out update #8

Ice Flows and High Water

Here’s this mornings view on Saturday May 14th. A north wind has moved ice to the south and away from our docks.

Highest water levels since 1947…

…and still rising! Yesterday Eagle Lake reached 1191 feet above sea level, which is 6 inches higher than we’ve seen it since being at VBL. The top of the Eagle River dam is 1192. Here’s some shots from yesterday afternoon when the south winds picked up….

Nesting at Gull Rock has come to a sudden and dramatic climax!
Not liking the look of this ice movement! New feature at VBL…a swim up fire pit!
Our trailor parking area is currently under water.
The last time the water covered this grass it was full of Pumpkinseeds (a type of fish)……will have to check it out.

We’re getting close to determining an “Ice Out” winner…

…Did you pick a date in mid May? Are you feeling lucky? Stay tuned…

As we get ready for our delayed opening we are hoping the water levels drop, the weather remains stable and the fishing experience remarkable!

Testimonials

This is a first class resort located on Vermillion Bay on Eagle Lake. The cabins are very clean and well kept. The boats are new with new motors and are in great shape. The owner will also clean your fish for you after your day on the water. Make no mistake the fishing on Eagle Lake is world class.

The Lodge is owned by Gord and Susanne Bastable who will make you feel welcome and before you know it you feel like family. They are the best of hosts. The atmosphere is low key and laid back leading to a great vacation.

This is my 19th year of enjoying the hospitality of the lodge and i can’t think of going anywhere else on Eagle Lake.
