Early June Fishing…. “The Basler gang”

 

Since a picture can say a thousand words I’ll let the Basler group pictures do the talking.  They had luck chasing the bass on Eagle and Caribou…..also pike and some lake trout action on Clearwater Lake.  Walleye fishing the first week of June this year was spotty, but it has definitely heated up since.  Lots of fish in and over the slot…..a report to follow.  Thank you to the Basler gang for coming up to VBL and providing me the pictures of their trip.  Hope to see you next year!

    Excellent….glad they found what they were looking for! It has been very interesting watching what has been happening with the quality of the small mouth bass fishery. I saw some amazing smallies on the rock pile on Clearwater (My nephew Kyle caught a nice one last year when we were jigging for trout), and the fishery in “high rock” has been impressive the last few years as well. We have not mastered that fishery on Eagle (other than the far end of the lake) and I would be interested in learning more?

    Gord, thanks for posting the photos! We had a great trip and couldn’t have been happier with the fishing and the accomodations! The trip back to Caribou was definitely worth the effort. Can’t wait to get back next year!

      Thanks Mark. Last week we “stumbled” onto a new spot for bass. Mark and Janice Arnold caught about 50 bass….the largest 22 inches!! I’m not giving out details on the web, but let’s just say you drove past this spot several times….

This is a first class resort located on Vermillion Bay on Eagle Lake. The cabins are very clean and well kept. The boats are new with new motors and are in great shape. The owner will also clean your fish for you after your day on the water. Make no mistake the fishing on Eagle Lake is world class.

The Lodge is owned by Gord and Susanne Bastable who will make you feel welcome and before you know it you feel like family. They are the best of hosts. The atmosphere is low key and laid back leading to a great vacation.

This is my 19th year of enjoying the hospitality of the lodge and i can’t think of going anywhere else on Eagle Lake.
