Winter is officially over…spring has arrived.  The question is “How do you have a winter storm warning when winter is over?”  The forecast is calling for over 30 cm. of snow for today….but what do I see on the horizon?  That’s right, warmer weather.  It can’t come too soon.

Don’t forget about entering the ice out contest!  Send me your best guess for when Vermilion Bay will be ice free.  Stay tuned for more “ice out updates”!

  1. Gord…I would find the continuation of winter bothersome. Fortunately, spring has arrived in southern Wisconsin with temps in the 60s. My tomato plants are starting to flower as well.

  2. I vote for May 17th. I am hoping to come to Eagle Lake to our cabin by Cedar Point then to get it stocked and ready for summer.

  3. Brad Walker introduced me to you folks and I really enjoy your sight. I’ve been going to Merkel’s Camp for many years and really enjoy coming to the area. Dr. Walker speaks of you folks very highly. I think ice we be out by the 16th. Hope I’m right. We’re up the 2nd week of June. Can’t wait. Thanks again!

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
