Ice out update #6

It’s May 5th and there is sex in the creek!

What you can’t see are the randy mergansers in the creek. Splashing, flapping, calling, chasing…..it’s romance at it’s finest!
Meanwhile up by the road the water is flowing, except for the middle culvert which is still frozen!
It’s nice to finally see some grass! Still plenty of snow and ice around though.

The weather seems to be getting back to normal…

We have some rain in the forcast for this weekend and Monday. Puts a damper on my outdoor activities but it will get rid of snow and ice. If you’ve been wondering about water levels, they are getting higher and higher.

Last fall this dock had dry ground around it. Now it’s showing some signs of ice movement, and plenty of water.
Looks like we’ll be able to use all the docks this year!
Cabin #5 screened porch under construction. Should be a great view!

Things are progressing….

…but it seems like a late spring is inevitable. Thankfully our early “opener” guests have been able to move their reservations to the following week. While we are disappointed in the way spring is shaping up things will get back on track quickly….and I’m sure the fishing will be well worth waiting for! Stay tuned for more updates……..and if you haven’t put in a guess yet, don’t wait much longer! Send them to Gord… vbay@drytel.net

Testimonials

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
