Ice out update…April 2, 2016

Here’s a view from the lodge this morning…

Things are gradually melting, but there is still a lot of ice.  When will it go?  You be the judge.  In the meantime I made another trip back into the portage lakes to make repairs and install the “magical sky winch”….

Fixed the ramp and broken boat seat in McGregor….ready to go!
Bring along my own power.
New seat bases.

The amazing sky winch. Will it work? Time will tell.
Boats ready for the opener!

Other things in the mix are the addition of the screened porch on cabin #3 and the interior renovations on cabin #5.  Here’s #5 in progress…….

Replacing the kitchen window.
Hello cabin six!
Two bedrooms become one.

Just a reminder that there are is still plenty of time to submit your ice out guess….you don’t even have to be a guest of VBL.   The only stipulation is should you win you must stop by to claim your prize.  Good luck!

  1. Are those “clap on- clap off ” light fixtures in cabin 6 ? I could use those in cabin three if you don’t mind. Now with all these upgrades to the boats in the remote lakes, you are forcing me to go on an exercise regime so I don’t kill myself on another trip to Caribou.

    1. Yeah but, does that mean we have to pack it in ourselves ? I’d rather just bring a 12 mm open end wrench and drop it across both terminals of the boat battery while holding on .

  2. Gord…Your attention to the needs of guests is impressive. I’m thinking that Susanne has put something into your coffee. Or perhaps you’ve laid off the sauce. Whatever the reason, you, for the second week in a row, are to be commended. Please know that Andy has been rendered speechless with the numerous upgrades.

  3. Very impressive with the upgrades Gord. I’m thinking Professor that Gord is getting much done cause Susanne is cracking the whip and Gord is not getting all that couch time he is accustomed yo while Susanne was at work all day
