Scott’s June Fishing Trip to Eagle Lake…

Scott's Crew
Can these dudes catch fish, or will they get hosed?

Scott Stroupe, from the Twin Cities, has been a regular at Vermilion Bay Lodge for a number of years….always during the middle of June for an action packed 4 days of fishing Eagle Lake.  This year a bigger group with the addition of several rookies………from L to R … Scott, Dean, Wade, Steve, Dave, John, Kerry and Craig (kneeling).

The fishing trip to Eagle Lake starts out rough…

Trailer Destruction
This is not how you want to start the trip!

Hwy 594 and the axle decides to break loose from Kerry’s trailer!  This is bad luck, but fortunately no damage to the boat, or to anyone else!  Call to the lodge and a rescue is facilitated.  Now, if this was the middle of the night, full of mosquitoes, on some desolate stretch of nowhere…..

Road Hazard
Time to drag it up on a flatbed…

Some serious equipment comes into play………..

Bert to the Rescue.
Bert’s Trailer $$ Wrecking?

Thank you Bert’s……and driver Rocky!

The fishing trip to Eagle Lake is looking better now!

Interesting Launch
Full service…..right to the lake.

A nice touch…..launch the boat and trailer.   The latter heads to the scrap yard….the former down the lake to the lodge….

Eagle Lake Desparado .
Let the fun begin….

…where fishing sombreros are donned and shopping bags poised.  Nice outfit Craig!  Let the fishing trip to Eagle Lake begin!

Let the fishing begin...
On the water at last!

Scott, finally on the water!  Will this trip have a happy end?  Stayed tuned for Part 2 of the June fishing trip to Eagle Lake……..

Part 2 of  Scott’s June fishing trip

to Eagle Lake…coming soon!

    1. I had to reply to my own post…….very “deep”. I think this should be the first line in my autobiography……..I wonder what the title would be?

      1. Gord…Here’s a possible title for your forthcoming autobiography, “Gord Bastable: Sharpest Knife in the Drawer”.

  1. I have seen worse carnage on the way up to VBL. It sounds like the damage was short lived Gord always takes care of his guests. Can’t wait to see part 2

  2. I can remember a couple of years ago on our way up we came around a curve to find a couple of guy’s lodged between the ditch and rock wall with there truck and boat, said they saw a bear..

Thank you very much for making my get a way week so enjoyable. Dan and I had a great time. You and Susanne should be commended on how clean and well maintained your cabins and lodge are.
