A great summer to “Fish, Relax & Unwind”

As the summer of 2012 begins to come to a close I thought I would select a few representative photo’s of what it was like here at Vermilion Bay Lodge this season.  As the muskie photo demonstrates, the fishing on Eagle Lake is a big part of everyone’s trip, but there are other aspects too.

Deck on the bay
There were plenty of opportunities for relaxing and enjoying the view this summer. It was a beautiful warm summer and the beach was popular.

fish cleaning at VBL
The fish house “staff” was kept busy this summer.

The walleye bite was “on”….

Darn good would sum up the walleye fishing so far.  Plenty of 16 to 18 inch walleye that seem to have been made in the same mold.  There were a few slower periods, but this has been one of the most consistent fish catching seasons we’ve experienced……..and it isn’t over yet!!!  Trout action has been excellent on Clearwater Lake, with the bonus of low water meaning VBL guests have the lake  exclusively to themselves!  Pretty selfish of us, but I’m hoping for more low water years all the same.  Plenty of muskie caught so far…..it’s looking pretty good for a fabulous Fall bite.

Getting together at VBL…it’s all about having fun!

A careful release means there will always be big fish lurking in Eagle Lake.

If you’re looking for an outstanding vacation spot for the serious fisherman or a family get away you should consider Vermillion Bay Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario Canada. We have stayed at many lake resorts over the years, but none offer the simple pleasures of this one. The lake is large enough and holds enough fish for the most adventuresome fisherman and yet easy for local family fishing for young children. Bring your own boat or use one of the aluminum boats (20 hp) at the lodge. Boat dockage is well protected from the wind and allows easy access to the water.

What sets this lodge apart from most others is it is always clean, well kept with lots to do including paddle boats canoes, bon fires in the evenings and a just plain friendly atmosphere.
